Players trying out are REQUIRED TO REGISTER in advance by June 9, 2023 at https://go.teamsnap.com/forms/370631
Players chosen for the travel level team will play in the Mid-Monmouth basketball league https://www.monroesportscenter.com/midmonbl/. Mid-Monmouth games for the 6th, 7th and 8th grade divisions start late October and run until late January / early February (depending on playoffs). 3rd, 4th and 5th grade divisions start late December / early January and run until mid-March.
Players trying out will be evaluated by Mid-South Travel Basketball coaches in the following areas: Dribbling, Passing, Shooting, Defense, Basketball IQ and most importantly Coachability. Players will be graded in each category as follows: 3 - Above Average, 2 – Average, or 1 -Below Average
Students must reside in the Middletown South part of town (determined by address or school) in order to be eligible to play for the South Travel Basketball Program. Students residing in Middletown North can visit their website https://www.myaabasketball.org/ or email info@myaabasketball.org for additional information regarding their travel basketball program.
Also note that the player fees for the 2022-23 season were $325 plus the cost of uniforms. We are still working to determine the necessary fee will be for 2023-24 season, but it will be at least the same as last season and potentially higher. There is no fee to try out for any team.
Parents are not permitted to stay to watch the tryouts. Parents are asked to drop off their child off on time for the start of tryouts, and come back 15 minutes prior to the end of tryouts for a post-tryout debrief meeting with the program trustee where parents can ask questions and get additional information on the program.
